How to play Nonograms

Numbers describe groups of filled cells. Use them together across every row and column until the picture is logically complete.

Read every clue before filling a cell.

Read the runs

A clue such as 3 means three touching filled cells. A clue such as 2 1 means two filled cells, at least one gap, then one filled cell.

Start with a line whose position is certain.

Fill certain cells

If a five-cell row has the clue 5, fill all five cells. For shorter clues, use overlap and completed neighboring lines to prove where a run belongs.

Cross out cells that cannot be filled.

Mark the gaps

When a run is complete, mark X in the remaining cells of that line. Those X marks become evidence for the crossing clues.
